John Deere Small 60 rear axle question

I am working on a small 60 and have a question regarding the rear axle. The picture shows a bearing on the outer end of the rear axle. I have new bearings for the ends, but someone told me that there is supposed to be a bushing or bearing on the inside. Can anyone here clarify this? I am fixing up the tractor for my daughter and I'm not trying to sell it, nor am I concerned about 100% authenticity.

If I put new bearings on the outer ends, but not on the inside, will it work correctly?

Thank you for your help.

Here are some pics of the axle.

I restored one as well, if you put new bearings on the outside, those bushings they call for on the inside pretty much are pointless. plus there is no real way to keep those bushings in the hole. I think you are fine just on the outside if it is tight.
