Model Tractors

I have had this thought bugging me for a long time
and Ive decided to throw it out there and see if
it can get solved.

Why don't model companies like Revell make model
tractors or farm equipment? I think it would be a
good part of the market to get into. It cant be
rights/royalty reasons can it? How can they build
Ford and Chevrolet vehicles if that were the case.

I know I for one would buy their models and build
them (maybe mix a few parts and pieces to make
some odd ones too.)

Does anyone have any thoughts or information on
this? Thanks.

Somebody did. I had a D14 Allis back in the day. My brother put together what I think I remember being a 4430 Deere and a 66 series IH.

I've wondered the same thing over the years. Why not if they're only going to sit on a shelf? I think the problem is they don't think enough people would be interested. I have a plastic (Ho scale) "Big Boy" steam engine I think is pretty neat. Could take a picture of it.

Here's a try at posting a picture of the plastic model train. Haven't had luck posting a picture last time I tried.

I read awhile back that there is a downturn in the hobby market. Kids aren't interested in putting models together nowdays. More interested in cell phones, nose rings, tattoos and drugs.

To sum it up in a few words. The demand for such models is not big enough. They have sell enough models to pay for dies and still make a profit.
