Eska farmall pedal tractor help

Howdy.

Was wondering if anyone had tips for splitting an Eska Farmall small H pedal tractor from 1949. I'm restoring one for a friend and need to get it apart. I'm having trouble with the pedal crank and rear axle. when I try to get one out the other binds up and keeps it from going. Unfortunately, unlike the new ones, the pedal crank is run through a plain old hole instead of a slot that goes to the bottom of the tractor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. God bless.

I am doing this exact same project and having the same problem. I just separated it as far as I could and stripped it. I am going to use an angle grinder with a brush head to clean the crank and axle.

Howdy,

I have thought about doing that too. I also noticed the sprocket on the rear axle is just tacked on. I thought about grinding the weld off and just sliding the axle out of the sprocket, then re-welding it when assembling. Thanks for the idea.

I have a problem also. I was training to remove the steering wheel and the set screw broke off. Any idea on removing it.

Unless you can use a screw extractor and take the set screw off, otherwise you could cut the steering wheel off and buy a new one.

You can place a small nut over the setscrew and weld it to the setscrew. Then use the nut to extract the setscrew. A wirefeed welder works well.

That worked for me!
