I was talking to a fellow who says he has a new in box Ertl 520 pedal tractor that is yellow. This isn't a JD 520, it's more like a 4430. He didn't think they offered them more than a year or two. He bought it new maybe 20-25 years ago, he thought. I was just wondering if anyone had any information on this? Thanks.

These are hard to find due to many of them being taken out of the box, along with only being made for a i believe it was only one year 1990. they were a 520 but were modeled after a 4455 John deere. there is nothing different on this version than the farm version of the 55 that was made in the late 80's. even the casting numbers are the same. With this pedal the value is with the box because that is the only way to prove it is a factory yellow pedal tractor. Ive seen one on ebay with the box that went for $900 4 months ago. and I've seen some claimed to be original ones with no boxes go for $450.

No, it doesn't look like what we old folks think of when we think of a 520. That's just the Model that Ertl put on it.

That casting was used to represent 4430, 4440 and 4450...only differences were in the decal on the side of the hood.

The industrial yellow version was made for a couple of years, starting in 1990, I think.

New in Box price is around $700. Of course, that's only if you're trying to buy...when you're trying to sell, the price is always lower.

I have some scanned pictures of the ag version showing the decal differences....can e-mail them if you're interested.
