How many versions of Ertl 3010/3020?

Doug Harke, who writes for Toy Farmer now, used to write for Toy Tractor Times, with articles entitled "Variations".

He did a series on the 3010/3020 John Deeres, and, if I remember right, there were 60+/- versions of that basic casting. Some of them were very minor differences, however.

Good morning Mr Stan. I had a man tell me that he had 50 different versions back ten years ago. I"d be neat to see one of each in one place.

Nitch,

A few years ago I thought I'd try to get one of each...got up to a half-dozen and decided it was more trouble than it was worth.

LOL!!! Yep.

I"ve even heard of some that were gas on one side and diesel on the other side. You ever run across one of those?

I've got one,but it wasn't the old original one,it's a newer reproduction. If I remember the story right, the "collector" edition was supposed to be a diesel and the shelf version gas,or else the other way around. Somehow they put the gas and diesel halves together and sold them that way.

Witch issues was the series in?

I have over 30 different versions right now, and 60 tractors total. I know of atleast 5 specific ones I still need and am sure there are more out there. I have also learned to never say never. Some of the versions are pretty minor like holes drilled or not drilled 3 diff mufflers, 3 diff decals, 5 lever variations. I can post photos if someone tells me how and what you want to see.

Those articles were in the January through July 1989 issues...quite a bunch of info. I had all the TTT magazines back to 1988, but shipped them to Duane Larson, of Knoxville, TN a few years ago. Duane died a couple of years ago, and all his stuff is being or has been auctioned off.

Sorry I can't help more.
