Help.. Different variations of the same precision

I am trying to collect all the precision key series in the IH and possibly the JD line. I know that there is two variations of the the IH 1086 (white panel and tri stripe) and 1456 (regular and golden demonstrator). Is there any others that I am missing on the IH side or do any of the JD ones have more than one variation?
Thanks

Well Brad I'll give it stab.

There are 3-F20's, There is the gray one that is #3. Red NF #4. Red WF #6.

Here is what I come up with for all Precisions.

#1 1206, #2 3588, #3 1468, #3 F-20 Gray, #4 F-20/NF Red, #5 H/Planter, #5 Plow,#6 1086, #6 F-20/WF Red, #7 39M, #7 6588, #8 SM, #9 Spreader, #10 MD, #11 460, #12 930 Case, #13 400 #14 560/Picker, #15 1030 case #16 706, #17 Wagon #18 1466, #19 560, #20 MV.

There is a 1066 and 400/cultivator that are unnumbered.

Then there is the 806 that has a unpainted radio.

I have not seen the 1456's, are they coming out or have they been out?

I may have missed some others as well. I can't keep up with all the new stuff that comes out.

you are also including the older precision series. The group of 20 models that include the f20's and M's and other implements.
I am talking about the precision key series. The new series being released by ertl.

#1 1206, #2 3388, #3 1468, #4 806, #5 H with planter, #6 1086, #7 6588 with rear duals, #8 1456, #9 1066

The 1086 has two variations for sure and so does the 1456. The 1066 is due out around Nov. sometime.

I am also trying to find the JD precision key series. They wont fit in my collection very well but I do like them.

#1 4430 with cab, #2 G, #3 3020 with loader, #4 420 with disc, #5 620LP High Crop, #6 4020, #7 7020 with full duals.

You may know more than I do I guess. What is the deal with the Key Series?

Why did they double up on some numbers? Like no 7,8,and 9.

Gary

The Key series is a more detailed than the previous series. I assume Ertl included some special models to increase the rarity of those pieces.

The key series isn't always "more detailed" by design so much as the details get better with each model. The difference in the Key Series over earlier Precisions is in packaging. The Key's come in a box where you can see the tractor without unpacking it. The new packing is less expensive while being able to display the tractors without removing them from the box.

Also, the forthcoming 1066 open station will be offered in two configurations. The regular red/white, and the '77 model "black stripe". It is one sharp looking tractor in either config.

4020 Deere w/picker was available in a VERY limited gold plated version. They sell for megabucks. Also, 4020 nf was issued in a "Nashville Parts Expo" version, much more valuable than the regular 4020nf.

Next Deere Key is a model R, followed by a couple more that won't be 2-cylinders. That's all I know about them at this point.
