I have restored a Heider Coaster Wagon built by the Heider Company in Carrol, Iowa. I would like to know more about when these toy wagons were built. It steers like a farm wagon with tie rods and spindles. It is 36 in. long, 16 in. wide, with 9 1/2 in dia. wood spoke wheels. Please call me at 715-473-5888, Wabeno, Wisc.
Thanks

Hi Dave,
I read that you are restoring a Heider coaster wagon. You indicated cast iron wheels on a wood coaster box. This combination is unusual. Would you be willing to send to me a photo of the wagon? Have you looked at the HeiderTractor.com web site and clicked the "Wagons" link? Regards,
J. Heider

I too have a wood coaster box w/cast iron wheels that my father & I spent the winter months restoring 25 years ago. The only problem is one wheel was missing & I've been unable to locate one to replace it. My father cut out a wooden wheel & put it on. I've checked every antique store in my area & keep an eye open at auctions to no avail...any ideas?

Good Evening Tom,
I met your father and mother several years ago in Carroll. We visited the factory before it was demolished.
Have you visited the website HeiderTractors.com?
If not, check it out and please respond. The subject is intended to record early Heider history and perhaps record what impact it had upon agriculture, business, and people.
Although gone for twenty years, the company's history is interesting and still very exciting.
Regards,
John C. Heider
