Id 301a no start

I just purchased a 301a with reverser. Has a broken ring gear. Can anyone tell me if I can tow start it so I can load it. One said it could damage components. Thanks

Reverser has hydraulic clutches. If the engine isn't running there is no pressure to engage them, so no it won't start by towing. Towing can damage the clutches in a short distance. The same applies for a tractor with the hydraulic Hi-Lo.

Winching it on should be ok, be sure the gear transmissions are in neutral.
