1030 Deere PTO clutch

I have a friend that says his pto is grinding when he tries to engage. Does the 1030 have a double clutch or are they hydraulic?

I don't have first hand knowledge of a 1030 but from a bit of searching it looks like they were available with either type PTO, continuous running (two stage clutch) or independent (hydraulic controlled). Does it have a lever or knob between/near the transmission shift levers to engage the hydraulic PTO clutch, or just the lever on the side of the transmission case to engage the PTO? If has just the lever on the side of the case it is the two stage clutch.
