Model H fan shafts

Just noticed in the parts book there's two different fan shafts that were used on the H. AH 620 R for tractors under 50499 and AH 1119 R for tractors after that. Anyone know what the difference is ? Thanks !

From my H parts CD, I think it is that the early ones, before 50500, had a rubber biscuit vibration dampener fan drive at the front of the long fan drive shaft, and the later ones had a friction drive disk replacing the original set-up. BTW, I have the friction drive set up, friction disk, shaft and more, that's now excess to me. I bought it from Dave Cook, as I recall, just to get the bevel drive gear. But to keep my'41 H original I decided to stay with the rubber biscuit as it was still good. Most are shot. If interested, shoot me an e-mail. It's open.

Tried to email but it said to use Safemail ? not sure what that is... If you want post an email address if not I understand. Anyways thanks for the info... I have the rubber but it seems ok. Just still getting bad gear noise after a few different sets and new bearings in both fan shaft and gov... Have shimmed many different ways to no avail. Thought it might be the wrong shaft... doesn't seem to be the reason. Frustrating

Looks to me like Safemail is automatic, just use YT's reply system. Anyway, I'm st [email protected]

Unless you have a properly adjusted matched pair of bevel gears that are run in, you're gonna have noise in the fan drive. Remember, you're dealing with 80 year-old-technology. I'm a "keep-it-original" freak, so if the rubber drive biscuit in yours is OK, I'd keep it original. But if the rubber is toast, then the friction drive is the next best approach.
