that oil is as old as the tractor, lots better oils around today. give it some 20-50 castrol is about as good as it gets. 15-40 is a diesel oil but it can be used also.

OK thanks. I've restored many old cars and switching oils without a fresh overhaul used to cause many many problems. Did'nt want to mess up old Johnnie.

I still run 30 wt non detergent in mine. Been doing fine with it since 1949. Don't know how you could improve on that. Advance carries it in the motorcycle section.

I run 20W-50 in all but 2 of my tractors. The 1935 JD=B run Valvoline 60W racing oil in because if has been since the 40s or 50 is even then that the engine was worked on and in my one Diesel tractor I run rottella 10W-40

WOW! Dad switched away from non-detergent oil to detergent oil sometime in the 1950's. He kept a little non-detergent around for the oil bath air cleaners but NEVER used it in engines.

He ran the oil in the Farmall M a lot longer than he should have before I got it. I changed the oil twice with 15W-40 Rotella and it's stayed clean since the last change. My Super H has the tach/hour meter off a Farmall 300/350, last oil change for it was 40 hours and SEVEN years ago. It and the M are both getting oil changes this fall. I bet the M only has 10-12 hours on it.

It maybe 15W-40 I have not looked at the bottle lately but either way it is diesel rated
