PTO shaft oil seal JD 720

I think I have a leaky rear oil seal where my pto shaft enters the pump on my power clutch housing on my 720D. I replaced this seal last year, and it looked like it was working because my pto shaft would turn off without a problem.

THis year when I started it up after sitting for 6 months, I saw the shaft would not stop turning. So when I drained it , there was about a quart of oil too much. I must have not put the seal in correctly or it was the wrong type.

I can't remember where I bought it, but when I look today for the part number AA5247, it doesn't come up. Does anyone have an idea where I can get this seal or if there is a good quality substitute? Also is there a special procedure for installing them?

Use two AR1335R seals back-to-back, garter springs facing out. Put a little grease between the lips.

NOT sure what tool (if any) was spec'ed in the old shop manuals, or where you'd find one nowadays, IF there IS such a thing.

If you look on the 'net, there's lots of reasonably-priced generic sets, but it would be luck if one was an exact fit.

I am fortunate to have a lather, and have made MANY seal, bearing, and bushing drivers for special jobs such as this.

Got a friend with a lathe?
