John Deere 4020 Powershift 148 Loader valve update

I got the valve installed over the course of the past week. I did end up plumbing the return into the rockshaft return line as I found it easier to find fittings for that rather than make something to go in the hole back by the remotes. I'll put all the parts I used to make this happen in the next post. Just wanted to put some pictures up of this install to add to the records since I used a lot of past posts to get mine done. Thanks for the help!

I'm not sure why it flips my pictures half the time. They all preview in my computer as oriented correct.

Parts I used from top to bottom:
Joystick Valve:
Brand LV 22 RFSTKAB
Convert to closed-center with LV2-C plug

https://www.brand-hyd.com/Products/Valves/3-Way_4-Way_6-Way_Monoblock/LV/

Pressure tee by brakes:
1/2 ORB/SAE into tractor, both branches are 1/2 37 degree JIC

https://www.discounthydraulichose.com/product_p/6803-08-08-08.htm

I goofed up on ordering the fittings on the hose that runs from the pressure port to the valve, so I had to unfortunately put a few 90 degree fittings off the tee to get the hose to match up. I'll probably change that this winter and just order the right hose this time with the right fittings instead of that multiple-90-degree-mess I have now.

Rockshaft return line tee:
3/4 JIC 37 degree on all 3 sides. Two males, one female.

To tee into the rockshaft return line on my powershift tranny, I used a tee top and bottom of that "U" line to essentially just space it out 2". I did this because I wasn't sure if just a "straight" fitting up top would be the same length as the tee below it, so I just used two tees to be sure the geometry wasn't effected negatively. I just put a cap on the middle branch of the tee by the platform.

Down by the filters I used a smattering of fittings from the local farm store to get from that tee to below the filter/case.

I originally had the hose straight into the tee, but I didn't like how sharp of a bend it was to get the hose routed and tucked above the drawbar. I did slid some 1" spray hose over the 1/2 hydraulic hose to protect it since it is slightly exposed under there.

Only thing that is blocked now after doing all this is the plug to get to the transmission screen, but I did a full fluid and filter/screen change while doing this so no worries there for awhile hopefully. Batteries still rock out like they should and the hoses tuck nicely under the battery box on the right side bu the valve.

The dog approves of the new joystick and FINALLY having two remotes available all the time now.

Thanks for all the help!

I did have to turn up the relief valve on the joystick too. I figured this out after starting it the first time and it was chattering and got hot quickly.

Factory setting was ~2000psi, with adjustment range of 1500-3000psi. 4020 hydraulics should be around 2200psi by all my searching, so I turned the valve up to 2800 psi by the manufacture's directions that every turn of the screw was 200 psi. Chattering went away.

Thanks for the pictures & write up. Now you'll have to get Fido trained on the new joystick. LOL

I wish this forum could be set up to allow sticky posts / threads for subjects like this.

"How to plumb an aftermarket SCV for a FEL on a 4020" is one of the most commonly asked questions on here.......
