530 john deere

Might try typing" video for replacing or rebuilding pedestal on a 530 john deere" in Google. Or find a manual.

I've ordered a book , sorry my questions are so hard to answer, lately or maybe the old timers have died off that have the knowledge that I'm looking for . I've tried to pull it up on my computer with no luck. And there is always one person on here that says buy a book, not you but its the other guys favorite saying. Thank you for trying to help and for the next generation good luck as well.

If you are referring to the power steering pedestal assembly , I may be able to help, we just did one on a 620, if you have a particular question please ask.

not much to it....remove the steering shaft, controls, break the steering gear loose, loosen he pedestal bolts, remove the lines they have packing seals, lift the housing off the tractor...is a hi lift, then replace the damaged if any pins, replace the rectangle gaskets on pistons, all this is without messing with any bushings or the pedestal bearing, o rings seals will need to be replaced. More difficult area of power steering is to go through the wear area of the control box, I always turned the gear 180 degrees when replacing the housing be careful and now loose a finger or two....need a good control lift area...like a chain hoist over the pedistal…..I've done several and have found the pins broken in the base on occasion....more difficult and expensive are the control box parts and the pumps, very, very expensive and this why many of them have not been repaired, also risky is adjusting the PS pump flow as this has a neutral pressure area and the radial movement will activate radial movement of the wheels....be careful...basically it's not something I'd recommend for a begin without some guidance help...

I'm another of those guys that says you need the 2 cylinder Power Steering Manual SM 2050. It has all the information you will need to disassemble and reassemble your unit.

Ive gotton it all unhooked. Friend of mine is coming over in the morning and we will lift it out. Had one problem one of the small lines on the bottom is stuck in the nut. After we sit it off we can still get line off and try to free it from the nut. anyone ever had this problem.

Another consideration in removing the housing is to strap or chain it so that the lift is even...design of the housing will try to tilt it to one side or the other. There are two sets of bolts. One set bolts the whole unit to the lower base and one set will release only the top. I preferred to release only the top first to prevent twisting of the cylinder thus possibly breaking off the retaining pins. Another difficult thing is installing the rectangle rubber washers and I found by putting in some hot water that it made them easier to install. Be careful with pulling on the corners as they can tear...I rather rolled them on using some hand cleaner and plastic body repair tools....be very easy with them...I would take pictures for reference. Never seen any need to mess with bushings...installing the large 0 rings also tricky...reason for having the pedestal aligned upright....the large sealing rings are to be handle properly....probably no need to remove shaft retaining bracket...this keeps the shaft from going out the bottom if you raise the frame of the tractor...I think you will see how the pedestal works once you're into it...
