I have read that I can take 150 thousands off my head but that seems like a lot of material as it's about 1/8 of an inch. Can anyone help me out with this.Obviously to much will ruin the head and more. Also is there anyplace that sells shortened rocker arms? My machine shop does not want to modify the rocker arms.I do not live in an area where tractors are common and it's often difficult to find folks experienced or knowledgeable enough to do simply machining.Thankyou for any help.

Seems like a lot of material for a modern head is true. But not for this kind of old iron, not at all too much.

Trouble is the modest gain in compression isn't worth the money spent and there are probably better ways to get you into the 100 octane needing crowd as well. What is the end purpose for this tractor since that is not covered at all in your first post. Lots of guys here that can help with mild to wild, I'm lacking experience in that particular arena.

Piston are stock now.Budget and time won't allow bottom end work this summer.Plan was carb and clutch last year, top end this year, bottom end next year.Im trying to get head done in prep for pistons next. I'm not a serious puller but want to do the best I can do while learning. There is a big difference between keeping something running and modifying it.
