Kind a off topic but I retired from farming and kept 20 ac. but now I find that the local coop wont sell the amount of herbicide that I need. I have ten acres of corn that took 30 ounces of callisto but had to buy the whole gallon for 850.00 cant make money doing that and don't want to buy 3 years worth. They used to sell just the amount you needed ,but this coop wont. how do you small farmers get by or will some coops split containers. just wondering thanks Bob

You could use a hoe in lieu of herbicide similar to the way I did it 60+ yrs ago. 10 acres wouldn't take too many days to walk up/down the rows.

Hoe, hoe,hoe..(couldn't resist)
Perhaps you could purchase smaller amounts of pesticide from a neighbouring farmer? That said, not sure what the pesticide regulations are in your area. Pretty tight reg. Here in Ontario.

They are not very forthcoming with you is my take away. And that would put them on my never visit again list.

A little google and mesotrione is the chemical name for the active ingredient in callisto AND the patent just ran out last year. So now that they can't rob you any more, they just ignore you and never tell you that you can get a gallon of 40% mesotrione at chemicaloutfitters dot com for $150 all day long. 700 dollars a gallon cheaper than before the patent ran out. This is why they aren't selling it anymore. 4 year supply by my math.

Or, like my brother who does organic farming, get yourself some Hispanic herbicide. My brother rotary hoes twice and tries to cultivate twice. Then the Hispanic herbicide goes through and gets the leftovers missed by the mechanical means. I think the crew has 20 or so people. Doesn't take them long to go through a field. They work for several local organic farmers in our area. In his case, it's about equal to chemical herbicide costs per acre.

Your best bet is to just have the local coop spray it for you or if you have a renter get it from him. I am an applicator and the epa has cracked down on how chemicals are sold. It can be very expensive to the coop if they are caught selling the wrong package size. I.e. 30 oz. Sorry i dont have a brighter outlook for you but it has become the law
