Model B Wheel Questions

I've just recently added to my collection of tractors with a model B unsure of the year. Serial number is super hard to read. I know its a 39 and up. What peaked my interest in this tractor was the steel wheels it has. It has steel flat spoke wheels on the rear with flat spoked wheels with rims on the front. So I'm wondering how rare this would have been? I've never seen another with wheels like this in Canada, possibly more common in the States. Anyways thanks for the info

What you have is probably a tractor that had parts swapped on. Front tires are probably off a new tractor and been changed which is easy to do. Flat spoke steel rears are correct and my 1935 JD-B has the flat spoke steel rears and round spoke steel fronts. Flat spoke rear with rubber are cut offs.

That is a 6 speed tractor telling by the shifter tower. So that would of started in 1941 ? I can't really tell it your frame is cast iron or angle iron ? the frame type and large radiator cap will give you a closer year range as seen in the parts books. If that came out with rear steel wheels it still may have the faster speeds in the tranny blocked off.

If the brakes have never been changed out, then it will be "[i:654c4848f0]a 41 and up.[/i:654c4848f0]"

The brakes for the 39 and 40 are the same as the unstyled Model B.

Note the steel wheel (Key 6) and extension rim (Key 18).

To my knowledge, John Deere never offered flat spoke front wheels.

The steel wheel with extension rim may not have been rare during the 1940s and later.

The steel wheel with extension rim in good, original condition may be rare in 2018.

Pure speculation on my part, but the flat spoke front wheel may be "[i:654c4848f0]farmer tech[/i:654c4848f0]".

Hope this helps.
