Where is a good place to tee into hyd pressure for a loader control valve? Looking for location and part# of fitting if needed. thanks, john

For pressure tee into behind pressure control valve on RH side down by hyd filter housing. If tractor has scv the parts listed below
from JD are what you will need.

Oil return to the proper location is even more important than the supply point.
We have had several people here return the loader oil, backhoe oil, hydraulic motor oil etc direct to the transmission case. Then they complain and whine about slow hydraulics .

Make sure and return the oil to a ported hydraulic oil filter cup. It is critical on these tractors. The hydraulic transmission/charge pump was not the best on them to start with. So you want the return oil going back to the main pump without having the charge pump handle it.

TxJim lists what you need for the pressure side.

AW16707 is a straight union JIC fitting. Tractor already has a "home made" tee at rear of pressure valve that leaks. Tee of fitting is removable to enable installation w/o removing valve which answers my question....get reg hyd tee and remove valve to install?

I have teed into a couple 2030's at the pressure valve to install remote couplers for loader connections. The Tee from John Deere had a swivel to go over the fitting that was in the valve for the existing line. The valve did not have to be removed to install it.

I see said the blind man! Will be able to match up fittings but JD part# would be helpful. thanks.

How is that oil return line routing coming along .

Here are the pages from the John Deere parts catalogs related to installing the pressure and return hydraulic lines for a 148 loader on a 2030 tractor. I believe the 2640 is the same, or similar. You should be able to find the same info for your 2640 in the John Deere parts catalogs on line to confirm this. If your loader is not a John Deere, use a JD loader model that fits the 2640 to get the hydraulic tap info. This should get you to the parts catalog if you don't have it:

Another option for the pressure tap that may work depending on you current fitting at the outlet of the pressure regulating valve.

This is the setup I've got. O-ring on side fitting that you remove to replace fitting from valve keeps blowing due to damaged chamfer. Other setup you listed looks good also. Originally thought someone that was as extremely talented as myself (lol) had made fitting by drilling and tapping.

Not homemade, that is the John Deere AW16707 fitting, at least that is what that one was sold to me as. The dimensional info shown on the parts page TX Jim posted is right, the drawing is generic and would make you think your fitting was wrong. I have found that on some item drawings when looking them up. Beware some of those O-ring fittings need specific O-rings to hold, the O-rings from most kits may fail as the dimensions are a little off and they are usually a softer material.

I've witnessed fitting for o-ring with movable washer & nut that have been installed incorrectly IE washer was too close to front of groove washer fits in when nut was tightened. Ideally one needs to install fitting deep enough that washer is near back of groove it sets in then tighten nut against washer to compress o-ring

Agreed. Likely you, as I, have seen them the opposite way as well. The nut way back and the fitting cranked in hard until it bottomed out, pointed the wrong way to meet the line, and the wrench turner saying the fitting is no good.
