Replacement instrument light bulb for 4020?

The bulb is missing from the instrument light socket. It looks like a auto blinker bulb but much shorter. A turn indicator bulb lights but the shroud will not fit due to the height of the bulb. It must be shorter than the turn light bulb.
The JD Part number is no longer in the JD list as good. It is 12 volt not 6 volt and is listed as 6 candle power?
What bulb type are you using?

Instrument lamp part number was AT12948, replaced by 57M6498, @ about $0.95 at your dealer. Industry standard lamp number is 631.

How did some parts guy muck that up or come up with "no longer in the JD list as good"?

Rapid Bob,

I'm going through putting LED lights on the 4020, and also replacing the dash light as it was broke, and upgrading it to an LED bulb.

Attached should be the parts diagram, the parts breakdown, and the part number showing the dimensions of the bulb. As stated above, your dealer will have them for less then a $1.

I had ordered two LED bulbs before and they were to tall to fit, these two attach do fit, and once it's together I will decide which light I will use.

Any questions let me know, email or post back and I'll try to check if I can be of any help.

Thanks for sharing that info.

After the complete LED conversion you'll have amperage to spare for more lights or other accessories. LOL

BTW, what year is your 4020 & what lights did you use for the rest of the conversion?

TIA

Glen, the 4020 is a 1968 model. I'm not quite done but close to finishing up, I could post then or now any info anybody would like.

I will attach a picture of the dash indicators I installed LED's in, I had ordered, amber, blue, and red bulbs, but blue was just to bright. Ended up moving amber to left side for electrical and using red for oil pressure.

The dash light I hope to work on tonight and get that back in and try out which light I will go with.

I ordered lights from Larson Lights in MN, and got the extra housings for the fender lights from Martin Parts in PA. I didn't want the housing with a hollow bolt, I wanted ones where the wiring leads connect to the bottom. This way dust won't get in there and I could use the factory wiring that was there.

Currently I have spot lights in the inside fenders, and on the left fender the outside light is a trapazoid and the outside light on the right fender is a flood. When I take it outside in the dark and aim then I want to see which I prefer.

Last year I did put a light bar on the front to replace the two halogen lights dad had installed, but while the hood was off (putting in new hood foam) I also wired in an automotive relay for the front light bar.

Oh and also LED A&I flashers for the ROPS. Then a fluted flood light (looks like the old orignal glass) for the rear light. Hopefully will work out well and Dad will be happy with it. Still use it for field work so wanted to convert it to LED's. And your right shouldn't draw near the power as before!

Glad it helped, I've had plenty give me insight here just by reading posts, and also asking questions from time to time. I'm currently working on what you were after so it was easy to comment and hopefully it helped you with what you needed.

It turns out the lamp socket was so packed with dirt/dust it had caked into cement. The wiring was corroded away at the bulb contact.
taking the socket out of the dashboard has to be one of the poorest designs I have ever seen. It took hours to get it out.
I order an after market socket assembly and will make sure it will be easy to remove if need be.
Thanks all who provided info.

Thanks for the info. Ryan.

You certainly won't ever have to worry about losing an engine due to low oil pressure because the light didn't catch your eye! That's awesome! LOL

Let us know what you think of the spot, flood, & trap. patterns once you get them in the field. I want to do the same to our 4020s but can't make my mind up on which patterns to go with.

Thanks again!
