Transmission Fluid /oil for JD A

How much transmission fluid is needed for Unstyled 1937 JD A ?
8 gals of trans fluid? really?

My I & T manual sez 27 qts (6.8 gal) for all A's. I wouldn't take that as 100% reliable. At any rate, fill to the edge of the filler plug hole. All old JD's take a lot of all fluids. When I got mine and changed everything, the line of various sized containers was as long as the tractor, and that didn't include coolant--couldn't afford it right then!

Mr Thinkers Almanac says 7 gal. I'm sure that is close.

Put almost 7 gallons in the 1944 Model I've resurrecting for the past 7 years.
Might add it's almost done........
