My manuals really don't show what should be on my tractor ( 1969) but the battery rack is heavy angle iron and would hold two smaller 12 volt batteries. I have one battery now that fits I just need to secure the battery to the frame.

originally your tractor did not come with that battery rack.
the oem battery boxes were underneath your platform on each side.
in canada the original batteries to fit your tractor cost $235 plus tax each.
so that is why these farm shop boxes are fabricated.
if you find the battery is not enough you can go to your local truck shop and get the perfect on to fit in there.
it will have a 1000 cold cranking amps and will spin the tractor over making it start instantly if every thing else is tuned up.

I've built several of those type battery carriers. Usually the owner was a coal miner/farmer and had access to mine supply dozer batteries.

Cut a small angle iron to lay across the outside edge
and use all thread rod to secure it to that frame.

I have a 8D industrial battery in my 4020D. I put it in about 8 or 9 years ago inside a custom made box. Its rated at 1500CCA, my dad's 4020D has a similar setup with a single 4D industrial battery which is 1100 cca if I recall correctly. I got both of them at the local farm store (Farm and Home in my parts). At that time each battery was around 125 to 150$. Before that I had the 2 factory side mount skinny battery boxes and I hated them.
