John Deere 2030 Problems

Hi every one first post here.
I recently purchased a John Deere 2030 Gas 1974 year of manufacture with a 146 loader.
When I first bought it it fired right up no problems at all. I talked to the dealer and it had problems starting back up to load on the trailer but I figured the salesman just flooded it when he put the choke on.
Took it over to the shed that evening started up just fine, got ready to leave and it was back firing running like crap finally cleared up.
Few days later went down the road with it to get a mower about 3 miles away. Started to over heat I pulled over let it cool off, started it back up and got home. on the way home it was cutting out running like crap. Temp was towards warmer end but not in the red. Turns out the brake pedal stick bad and I had to pull them back by hand they wont reset

Washed radiator out with water let it sit over night. Next day go to start it fire up runs really rough and dies, bunch of black smoke, grey smoke, smells like gas. Took Carb off cleaned, checked floats, replaced needle, seat, bowl gasket, and venturi. The old Venturi was wrong part number for the carb, and cracked. Checked compression it ran 170- 165 on 1, 2, and 4. 155-150 on number 3. I have decent spark as long as I cleaned the plugs off. I even bore scoped the cylinders they look good, no fuel or anti freeze that I can tell in the oil. Wont run long enough to check anti freeze for bubbles.

Put carb back in now it fires up on first attempt sputters for a bit and dies grey smoke smells bad like fuel. Then wont start but no more back firing, plugs are soaked in fuel. I've over hauled 2 cycle outboards, and Atv's on my own. I'm new to 4 strokes the only thing I can think is timing but I'm open to advice. Also any east fix for my break pedals sticking?

Welcome to YT
Does carb have fuel solenoid on bottom of bowl? If so solenoid may be faulty. On brake pedals sticking lubricate brake pedal pivot pin.

If you just bought the tractor from a dealer what is he doing to fix the problems? I would put in points and a condenser and set the timing with a timing light. Late timing will make it over heat.

hello, i'm told by a reputable 60++ YEAR JD SERVICE guy that the condensors,,"CHINA", from Deere are NO GOOD anymore,, they fail and cause such problems,, go to NAPA AND GET a cond..

Thanks everyone, i bought it from a dealer 2 hours away so running back and forth is a no go. It has a fuel solenoid but its getting to much fuel. I set points again to .020 and it helped. I ordered a electronic ignition, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. I think its an ignition issue or i hope!
