4055 fan clutch

I have a 4055 that is overheating. Fan clutch spins easy have heard that there is a kit available to bolt the to halves together. Haven't been able to find part number .local dealer can't either. Made my own kit last time. Doe's anyone know the part number. Or did they discontinue it because there's more money in fan clutches.

I think you need your radiator cleaned. Locking up the fan didn't do much for me. Local radiator shop took mine apart to clean it. Works good now.

The kit consists of a couple of straps you attach to the proper bolts to lock the fan to the hub. If you do this make sure the straps are installed to they pull the fan instead of pushing it. It’s easy to figure out.

My 4455 kept showing it was overheating according to the gauge. I did all the cheapest remedies, thermostats, took the rad and had it cleaned at a shop, new belts, locked the fan clutch. Ended up being the micro processor in the box that contains the gauge.$1500 later it doesn't overheating barely gets to operating temp.

(quoted from post at 21:57:43 07/29/18) Re36368 is what I have wrote down.Should be around $20.

You're correct on the part number for fan lock up kit. I put the kit on my 4255 in '94

RE36368 VISCOUS FAN DRIVE, VISCOUS DRIVE FA ADD 21.29 USD

installed that kit on my 4960 a few years back haven't had any problems since inexpensive cure for a change

(quoted from post at 12:18:05 07/30/18) I put a fan kit on the 4250 a couple of years ago, it runs a lot cooler now.

Colder is not always better.

Directly proportional to "how much colder"!!

JD engineers designed the clips so they must have thought they were required. My 4255 without fan clip kit ran 235-240°F when pulling a plow to with fan clip kit 210°F in Texas summertime. It had new thermostats & clean radiator/AC condenser.

(quoted from post at 17:12:32 07/30/18) Maybe B&D, but in this case cooler was much better.

Definition of cooler ? There are still people who remove thermostats because they think if too hot is bad. Therefore colder is better.
There is the ideal coolant temperature range of 195-210F depending on the machine.

No kidding on the 210°F and your point is WHAT?

Some people think that temperatures below 180F are acceptable and even desirable . The ICE starts to clean up at 180F and is good at 195F and above .
