JD 530 Power Steering Fluid

Bob, I will get flamed by the correct police, but I have been using 10W40 engine oil in my 50 power steering. The power steering works
great, though at less than 25 degrees you want to let the tractor warm up for a minute or two before much steering takes place. I will never
again use JD's over price oil for my two cylinder power steering units. I sell and service zero turn mowers and the hydrostatic oil is multi
viscosity engine oil. (manufacturers recommendation 20W50 Mobile One synthetic) I figure if a hydrostatic drive can use engine oil, my power
steering can too as the power steering is much less complicated or stressed than the hydro-drives.

As always it is personal preference. I use the JD oil in my two cylinders. Oil these days is so much better quality most any of it will work just fine.
