No way I would try to repair that. Regardless you will waste more time trying to fix something that is clearly too far gone to fix. There are enough cracks that could be unseen that the whole chunk could break off. There are lots of good used ready to go heads out there. You will be happier in the long run and the little guy will be riding sooner than later.

This is my first time this far into an engine. If I get a used head from All States (or somewhere similar) I am guessing that I get no valves or anything else. Can I take my head apart and put everything in? Or would it be best to have a machine shop do that? I would appreciate suggestions. Thanks

You would be wise to take your new head, and old valve equipment to a machine shop, and have them touch up the valves and seats. Have them magnaflux the new head, to check for cracks.

See how your 2 center push rod openings have tubes in them. If you get another cyl. head try to find the latest type that does not use those tubes. Just one less place to get a water leak.
I don't remember the casting number on those. I think they also require the matching big thick cast washer for the oil lead stud.

The cast number in this head is B2501R. Does anyone have a good one for sale? Or have suggestions on where to look? Thanks

I can't agree with this enough. Sometimes cracks are too small to be easily seen, and grinding the valve seats is never a bad idea. The machine shops near me magnaflux for so cheap it's almost crazy to not do it!

I have several heads available for $150 guaranteed to be rebuiledable Feel free to contact me at 573 535 8952 or by email. thanks, Tom Ziegler
