34 GPA OIL PUMP

TIMAR

My 34 A had been sitting a couple years. Couldn't get it started by hand so we belted it up to my G and started rolling it over but stopped because the red head want come up. Added 2 more quarts of oil and still no pressure. And yes the indicator is free moving.
When I rebuilt it I had no problems years ago. The cover has a 90 degree 1/4 pipe fitting on the oil pump that someone before me threaded in. Tried putting oil in it and still no luck.
I've heard of pumping grease into the gears. ? Is, how much?

Re: packing oil pump with grease. Use Vaseline and pack it full. This will prime the pump and mix harmlessly with oil. But--is there a coupler between the pump and drive designed to break away if pump is locked up, as in frozen water? That's not a good example for this time of year! I am 101% ignorant of your tractor, but have seen this issue posted here previously.

OK Remember the first 14,025 Model A tractors, have an oil pump set up that is entirely different from the later Waterloos. It is driven off the gear on the end of the crank. You may have already know this. Mine had worn out teeth in pump. I used to add about 5 but it could have been 7 quarts of mo-oil, get it started, pump primed and indicating pressure, the drain the excess oil out. Should be good to go. I do not understand the fitting on oil pump unless it was to add the oil that way. The other issue is that the pump gear teeth are so worn it just can not make pressure. New gears could be had, don't remember who had them. Ends the problem. And now you know why sn14026-up had a different main case and oil system..

Got oil pressure now. Put a 1/4 zerk in place of the pipe plug and put 5 shots of grease in it. Red head shot up within 5 seconds rolling it over with the belt.
Now, my next problem is this thing is a bear to hand start. Good compression, timing is dead on, and fuel is good. Any tips?
