2510 gas or 3010 diesel?

Which tractor is more valuable. Both have wide front. the 2510 has diff lock the 3010 does not. they're in similar condition, maybe a 6 out of 10 with typical issues like gas gauges non-functioning, but major components operate and tractors start, shift and run fine. Used as a small chore tractor, 6' bushhog, box blade work, small food plot maintenace. 15 hours a year usage.

2510 has the better pto in it as the 3010 could have pto pin trouble, the 3010 will probably have more power. Although if engine work ever needed done 3010/3020 diesel parts are harder to come by with no repower options. A 2510 you have a few different gas options and many Diesel engines to bolt in the gas engines place

With the low use you are talking about I would go with the 2510. For lots more use I would pick the 3010 as it is a diesel. I have a 2510 diesel that we use for all of our smaller jobs and if I quit farming it would be the one tractor I would keep (or maybe the 4020 that Dad bought new). The 3010 is not a bad tractor but the pto can be an issue and they can be an expensive engine to work on. Tom

The JD 2510 is a better tractor from the flywheel back. The JD 3010 diesel motor is hands down better than the gas one of that vintage. I have ONE JD gas motor from that time period and I cuss it half the time when trying to use it. Lots of guys on YT swear they run them without any issues. Not my experience and not a lot of others either.

So if it was me I would either buy the JD 3010 or if I bought the JD 2510 I would plan on replacing the motor with a diesel.
