JD Power Steering

Good morning,

I have a John Deere 530 that I am using for brush mowing the pastures. I am pulling a 5' deck. It works ok. I am having a problem with the power steering though. It's lagging and at times almost nonexistent. Is there something I can adjust or is something worn out? It has a wide front on it and the linkage is tight.

Thanks,

Bob

Also, what is a good set up for brush hogging fast when the grasses are tall and a person can wait easily 6-8 weeks if a person has to? A 630 with a 6 or 7 foot deck? Would a narrow front be better for turinng quick and tight on flat pastures and help with preventing push in the turns?

First thing would be to change the fluid and see if it changes. There are two critical adjustments in the steering box finally the bypass pressure. I would suggest picking up the manual SM-2050 if you want to attempt to do your own work.
