Thermostat

I recently put a new thermostat in my John Deere 70 diesel now it goes up 170 but it drops clear back down to down to 90 or to me it seems like a dropped down too far is this normal the old thermostat didn't do this

I do not think that mine drop to 90 degrees (low gauge reading is 140) but it certainly does warm up and change rapidly. Rarely work them hard enough to see how they respond when everything is warmed up to working temp. Sounds normal to me.
