JD 850 Hydraulic/trans fluid leak out bottom weep hole

John Deere 850 Diesel w/loader no P/S. Tractor leaks fluid out bottom of tractor. Running or not. Question: what is the most common or most likely cause? Seal on a shaft requiring a split to repair. What seals would cause this possible leak or could it be a internal line? Can I learn more by removing inspection covers or transmission top? What are your opinions on the cause. Everything works just leaks badly. One guy said a clip on a shaft ,not sure what he was referring too. Thanks Guys any Ideas??
 
Afraid your'e going to have to split it at the back of the engine and have a look.

If it's not simply residual oil that continues to leak out after shutdown, it would seem there's something more wrong than the transmission input shaft seal.

NOT sure exactly what sort of cover or cap is at the front of the lower transmission shaft, a leak there would continue without it running as it would be below oil level.

HOPEFULLY someone more familiar with them than me will reply, you mite toss 'em a little crumb of info and post the serial number, as there's two "series" of that tractor.
 
What's straight above the spot on the floor where it's leaking. That'll tell you a lot about where/what's leaking. Taking the top off the transmission won't tell you anything about your leak.

Coming out of front weep hole just behind engine. Guy said he hear a CLUNK and then the leak appeared. But no noise everything working. I agree split it, what all should I replace? I'll replace all seals I can get to regardless and other suggestions Bob? Thanks Again!

Bob,you said it might be more than just a seal ? I have a small book and hard to really tell what all could be causing this leak.

I will split and replace all I can that might cause a leak. Any suggestions or tips? 83 850 serial # 0850s014203 TWO WHEEL DRIVE .Thanks BOB
 
For it to continue to leak into the clutch housing while not running, I would suspect something wrong in at the front end of the lower transmission shaft, Key #'s 35 thru 42.

I would also replace input shaft seal Key #3.
