Leaking top assembly on the injector pump. I believe this is a Lucas CAV pump.

Client is sending me some pics for id, but still, I'd like to get a heads up on the repair. Kit to reseal the top cover and shaft seals?

Repairable on the tractor?

I've repaired the sealing on a 2240 while on the tractor, and am hoping this is a similar fix.

Any guidance on this?

Thanks,
Colin

If the cover/ shaft seals are leaking they are trying to tell you how old all the seals are in that pump. If you are fixing this tractor for someone else why would you want to risk your reputation as a good mechanic by trusting that the drive seal which are just as old as the cover/shaft seals wont start leaking? This tractor still has some good resale value. Don't risk an problem down the road that may ruin the engine . Reseal the pump and do the job right. Reseals on a DPA/Roto diesel aren't expensive. I do close to one a month and most guys are very happy with the results. A lot of these pumps loose some vein pump pressure over time and this affects the hydraulic advance in the unit. On the stand I bump up the relief setting if the advance is a little lazy. This makes the engine a little more snappy. al

Thanks, Al. I'm sure Farmer Brown won't want to do that, but you are right, it's probably time for a real fix.

If I can convince him of that at season's end, I'll contact you for a RFQ, price and turnaround time.
