JD 4320 Water Pump Question

Got my Dads old JD 4320 running last night, but the water pump was not turning. I loosened the belts so the engine could run a minute and not burn the belts off.
My question is if anyone has had this happen and would it be possible to tap on the sheave or something to try to get it turning again. I don't mind putting a new waterpump on if it needs it, but if not, there is no need. The tractor last ran about 3 - 4 years ago my cousin said. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance - Bob

Was the cooling system "dry" or the level of the coolant below the waterpump?

If so, it MAY have some rust or debris sticking the impeller to the housing, otherwise, if the doble bearing is what's stuck, obviously the waterpump will need an overhaul.

You probably won't know for sure until it's off and opened up.

The coolant was close to full. I put one gallon of antifreeze in and it filled it up, so it really wasn't very low, if at all. I haven't gotten it home yet to fool with it, but am hoping to get it loose. Never really had one stick from sitting, but I'm sure they do. Thanks for the reply - Bob
