John Deere 2010 starts but quits immediately

1963 John Deere 2010 will start, but quits immediately. I have cleaned the carb and plugs. It starts strong, but then quits.

Quits as in as soon as you let off of the start position in the switch?? If yes if it has the start by pass for a ballast resister good chance the resister is bad. If it runs say a minute or so then dies check that you have a good steady flow of gas out of the carb drain plug that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes. Yes catch the gas to also look for dirt/water. Also when was the last time you serviced the air cleaner and dumped the water and mud out and fill with fresh oil? If it has water in it that can cause it to die.
