JD620 with side mount mower

Ran across on my travels today a JD620 with a Side mount sickle mower. Also dual hydraulic . $6000.00. Haven't seen a side mount mower in
years. Is that price in the neighborhood? What should I be looking for on that side mount mower? Anything that might be wore out. The JD 620 in nice and good shape. Thanks for
any help or advice you can give. Al

Might be a Number 10 mower. Should be online pics to compare to the one you are looking at. A good Number 10 with mounts can price out at 500 dollars for a unit in good original condition. I bought a decent 10 a few years ago lacking mounts and tractor drive for 180 dollars. I was suppose to get the pieces about a week after the auction but got hurt in a fall so I never got there before the owner cleaned out the shed so they are gone.

I almost dropped my teeth when I saw what some people want for a 620. The original MSRP was $3000. Some people want way more than 5,000-6,000.

Why are they such a hot item for a two cylinder?

Lots of things cost way more now than they did New like
muscle cars and I wouldn?t give ten cents for any car made

My opinion is that he is way overpriced. A good no.10 mower is worth maybe $500. The dual hyd is worth $750 and unless it has a three point or wide front you can not get $3500 for one here in the midwest unless it is perfect and has new rubber. Tom

Way over priced. 10 mowers are good units when they work but parts availability is not good.

I remember when I was young, probably 1959 or so the dealer had a 620 and #10 mower on the lot shining like a new Nickle,, I tried to get Dad to deal for it,,but he said "The 60 and #5 mower was doing just fine"...

I looked up the specs on a JD520 and it actually has a respectable compression ratio of 7:1 which was better than some other makes of tractors of that time period.
I was pondering over the low compression ration 4.2:1 on the war time G model and still don't understand why it was so low. I know distillate was very, very inexpensive compared to now, but does it require a low compression engine to work in correctly? I know someone who has one and the gas bill for mowing the lawn would be considerable after a while.

I do understand that special attraction each adherent has for a particular tractor brand or model.
