John Deere 4230 water pump

How big of a job is it to replace water pump. Mine has started to leak on my 4230. Should I pull radiator or leave it in. Thanks

Remove the alternator and raise the hood. Remove shroud screws and fan bolts and slide fan and shroud out. Then take the water pump off, if the radiator needs a good cleaning remove it, otherwise just leave it there.

In addition to what matthies said, cover the radiator fins with a piece of cardboard, or even better a thin sheet of tempered hardboard to avoid banging it up.

And be prepared for a few skinned knuckles. Lots of sharp stuff getting those fan bolts out. Good Luck!

The radiator is easy to remove,,don't fight it,,take it out and clean it good while it's out..
