2630 Clutch and Pressure Plate Asm Replacement Tools

I purchase a 1975 John Deere 2630 Utility tractor with a 48 loader attached that is probably going to need the clutch disc and pressure Plate Asm replaced. It has the independent PTO feature so it uses the single stage clutch. I have the JD Service manual, TM-1085 for reference. The manual refers to the centering tools as JDE-51 and JDE-52 and JD227 clutch release lever adjusting gauge. I do not have these tools. Can I get by without them or is there something I can substitute in their place? The manual also says that the JD227 gauge has to be modified. Are newer versions of that gauge already modified?

The JD Servicegard tools catalog I have shows JDE-51 as a clutch finger adjusting gauge for synchro-range and powershift transmissions, and would be a John Deere tool. JDE-52-A is John Deere's universal clutch aligning set for single stage clutches. JDE-52-1, JDE-52-2, JDE-52-3, and JDE52-4 are the dual stage adapters they show and are used with the JDE-52A set. You can likely use a universal alignment tool that fits your pilot bearing and clutch disc as yours is single stage. JD-227(A) is a common clutch finger setting gauge. I don't know if the newer ones from John Deere are modified. Lavoy at jdcrawlers.com is one source that usually has the JD-227 tool if you want to purchase one. The modifications needed may be shown in your manual in the special tools section, many manuals show that info. There have been posts here that give dimensions and how some adjusted have their pressure plate fingers without the gauge. Are you buying your parts from a JD dealer? They may let you trace the tool, if they have it, so you can make one.
