kurt

Kurt, I just got through overhauling an R. If you have a local machine shop, they will be able to assist with anything like valves and valve seats. I had to make a lot of phone calls for pony motor parts. But rings, bearings, etc. John Deere actually had most everything.

What exactly are you looking for, I may can give you some phone numbers I used for very specific parts.

Estes, just bought a 1952 R last Monday, needs a lot of tlc but all in all think it's going to run when I get done changing all the fluids.

thanks
kurt

Your dang right she'll run. There's not much to it. I want to say that's the same year model that I've got. If that pony motor runs good, you should have no trouble. Ease that clutch in. I see a lot of guys at tractor shows jamming it in. Not necessary or correct.

Check my recent post out. I've got a few pics.

Hi Kurt, I have a JD 830 for 30 years now and had gotten most parts from a local dealer. Also external link or Davenport Tractor and also the Two cylinder club has many adds for many places for repairs or parts. When I start mine like was mentioned I warmup the pup then roll the main over with no compression till I have oil pressure for 10 seconds or so the give it compression and then give it the fuel ( idle amount ) and let it warmup. 90% of engine wear come from cold dry starts and thats the beauty of these old engines is its easy to start them gently and proper. Kendall.
P.S. also have an 820 and 630.
