I know there is rust in the cooling system based on what I saw when replacing the hoses on the upper water pipe. Am planning to flush it out with water but what chemical flush works better than water without doing some type of damage?
The attached picture shows what I believe is a drain plug pointing down (lower right next to the clamp). It?s round with no visible threads and has what looks like pipe wrench marks on it. Is this a drain plug?
Any advice about the right way to get the rust out of the system is appreciated.
Also, how full should the radiator be once the system is flushed? The last time I ran it the coolant poured out the overflow so I think I overfilled it. Could the coolant not be circulating right due to rust blockage so its getting too hot?
