I acquired my late grandfathers John Deere B. It hasn't ran in probably 30 years. Been sitting indoors and isn't stuck. It has spark. I took the carb off to clean and seen it had the stem repair done but it looked like a terrible job. Instead of using a spark plug like I've read about before, someone used a bolt and brazed it. The "secret passageway" is open and all the brass fittings came out. I cleaned it the best I could and just wanted to see if the tractor would fire. Upon putting gas in the tank and turning on the shut-off valve, gas started leaking out around where the nut goes on the bowl. I've made several gaskets and it won't seal. Since it is a bolt instead of a spark plug thread that would accept the cupped standard John Deere bowl but, I'm unable to make it seal. Does anyone know what it costs roughly to have this repair done by Roberts Carb or is it something that I can do myself. I've emailed Roberts Carb, with no reply several times and have called. I can might weld and stick weld but only brazed once. Just hate to screw the only decent carb I have up. There is another DLTX34 carb here but it also has a broken stem that my grandfather must've saved hanging in the building. Thanks for any advice
