'51 A ROM Steering spindle rivets

I posted a question a few weeks ago asking for help with front wheel wobble, but got no replies. Since then I've discovered the problem. The left side Knuckle has badly worn bushings and bad bearings. The actual wobble, though, is the two 1/2" rivets that keep the vertical shaft tight. They're both loose. I don't find any pictures, but I imagine they were swedged in place at the factory, therefore can't be removed without grinding off one end or drilling one end off. Could some hard 1/2" bolts be used in place of the rivets? Any ideas? Thanks

If you mean the housing rivets they are 1/2 x 3 3/8. If the spindle ext they are 1/2 x 5. If there are no clearance issues grade 5 bolts would be fine. If there is you can get rivets at any industrial supply.
