A spark plugs

I use only Autolite 3116 as it's a non resistor plug.....

386 & 388 are resistor type plugs.........

I run them in my Jd D...JD AR...JD 520

If you have a battery powered coil distributor ignition its a bit more forgiving and some gents successfully use Autolite 386 or the tad hotter 388 resistor plugs, but if you have a Magneto Ignition I highly recommend a non resistor plug such as the Autolite 3116 which is within the heat range required and will, of course, still work fine on EITHER a Mag or Battery Ignition.

Champion D21’s. LOL I just had to say it to be ornery. We had good luck with AC’s in our two bangers back in the day when they were worked long and hard. Today’s AC plugs might be different from what they were back in the day though.

B&D,
I've never heard of extending the reach of a common plug. Could you say a bit more, please?
Why, How, and what are the advantages?
Will appreciate leaning some more.
Thanks, Bob

If you measure , you will notice that the 388 and 3116 plugs stop about half way down the threads in the block . I put a set of 3116 plugs in the lathe and cut some shoulder off. Now the electrodes are in the combustion chamber instead of shrouded up in the block. Does make a difference as the spark plug should ideally be in the middle of the combustion chamber .
Idle speed increased as there was more effective advance . Will try it under load later and retard the timing if it pings
