No Power to Rear Auxiliary Electrical Plug

The 2-prong auxiliary electrical plug on the rear of my 1964 3020 Diesel is dead. Is there a short-cut way to trace the wiring to find why there is no power getting to this plug? This tractor has been converted to 12-volt with an alternator.

I would think on a 2 wire plug one would be battery power and the other ground. A simple VOM would tell you which wire is bad. Take the VOM set it for low DC volts and ground the black lead and then check both of the plug wires for battery voltage. If you get zero volts then set the VOM for ohm and check them again for ground. Doing that should tell you which wire is bad or has a blown fuse if it has a fuse.

If it was a 12 volt conversion there's a chance that aux plug never got wired correctly (likely no hot feed to it now). All you need is a 12 volt test lamp to figure out if there's hot (likely fused, maybe blown) and ground connection to it.

Thanks for all your help. Tractor was converted to 12 volt about 6 months ago. Plug was hot before that. Probably lost the connection when that process was done.

3020 parts schematic wiring shows an ""inline fuse holder"" with white wire attached to top post on starter solenoid. Although a white wire supplies elect. to rear plug without a TM with wiring schematic I do n't know if this is same white wire.

CONGRATULATIONS Looks like you may have answered your own question yayyyyyyyyyy If it was hot BEFORE the conversion but not now, it wasn't re wired correctly. Its still an easy fix, run a fuse protected hot and a good frame ground to the plug and you're good to go

JD factory elect socket had no ground wire connection but evidently utilized tractor/implement hitch for ground connection.
