Pony motor flywheel removal

OK, I've got and R model pony motor that I'm trying to overhaul. The flywheel is on the crank good... no way to get the crank out of the block until it's off either. I hammered it a small amount but stopped because I worry about cracking the whole block/crank case. I've built a very robust puller and have a lot of tension on it as we speak. I've been soaking it for several days now in penetrating oil as well. I'm worried about heating the flywheel cause I'm not sure if its cast (don't want to crack it).

Anyone have any tips or lessons learned??

Looking at the drawing after the big nut is off it just slides off.

It looks very similar to the later V4 pony flywheels, and it's on a taper on that crankshaft. They can be VERY hard to get off, I've used a puller and prybars behind the flywheel to get them off. I wouldn't be afraid to heat a bit. Just leave the flywheel nut on (loose) to catch it when it does POP loose.

Got it finally. Patients got it. I'm sure it's never been pulled. 70 years of being torqued on can be a challenge. The head studs are next. I'm sure they will be way worse.
