730 runs out of fuel when at lower rpm's

I have a 730 gas that stops running at lower throttle settings. At full throttle it seems to run ok, until a load slows the engine down, then it runs out of gas. The input to the fuel filter runs great. Can anyone point me to the right direction? I see there are diaphragms on top of the sediment bowl, do they function as a fuel pump? The float and needle valve on the carb works, so I don't think the carb is the problem.

Thank you,
Ernie

Check the screen in the fuel bowl may have some trash on it, had this happen to me on my A, cleaned it out and no more problem.

Make sure on that auto shut off that the center stem the rubber washer goes down with it and is not stuck to the top housing when it is running. Had a 630 giving fits and that is all that was wrong with it.

Are you talking about that little "gizmo" on the top of the fuel bowl? When it runs out of gas, I toggle it and it seems to go again. Is that the automatic shutoff? That whole fuel bowl is a mystery to me.

Not much of a mystery to them. They use oil pressure to turn the gas on and shut the gas off if the engines looses oil pressure or is shut off. I like to rebuild them and clean them on any new to me tractor. They do have some pretty small passages in side that get clogged with junk ? I also put new diaphrams in them too. If these go bad gas can get in the oil and oil into the gas.
The little knurled knob on top is so you can manually push the plunger down and get gas to flow.
The 630 I had trouble with you could look thru the glass bowl at the bottom of the plunger that you push on and see the rubber washer that seals when shut off was stuck to the top of the housing and not dropping down with the stem as it should. This restricted the fuel flow.

I have installed the rebuild kit and it still has problems shutting off after it runs for a couple of minutes. I'm tired of messing with this and not out using the tractor. Now my problem is finding the correct new replacement for the fuel filter. My parts book calls for part number 3238R, but this number is getting no hits. All the new auto shut offs I have found say they are for tractors up to the 620. Anybody have a suggestion on what number will fit my 730? The serial is 7300042.

p.s. I wish I knew the year of this tractor?
