I broke the 6 hole plate that is around the pto shaft at the back of the tractor. I Removed the bolts but could not pull the plate or the shaft out.

Do I need to remove the shaft to change this plate? If so how does it come out? #19 is the plate I broke.

That plate has to come out with the shaft , you must have had
the bearing go out and swell up the plate flange inside the
case , may take a torch to cut through the plate and bearing ,
if it absoluty won't come out by prying

The shaft assembly should all slide out the back? I didnt pry on it too hard yet didnt want to break anything else

Yes, it slides out the back with the bearing holder(or plate) as an assembly. Normally they slide out easily after the gasket is broke loose. With your bearing holder broken it may be expanded enough to be stuck tight in the case. The only damage you can do prying would be breaking the flange on the bearing holder but that is bad anyway so don't be afraid to pry on it. As said in previous post, you may have to resort to the cutting torch. Good luck.

Ok thanks! I can slide the pto shaft back and forth about and inch but then it gets stuck...guess I will get the pry bar out
