4430 gauges

Tractor is a 1973 model 4430 with 7000 hours showing no oil pressure at idle when warm but no knocking.

After reading some threads on oil pressure testing, I plumbed in a mechanical gauge into the hole on the filter housing. When cold the inside gauge shows about 40% deflection. Mech gauge shows 60psi. Warmed it up on high idle. Oil pressure dropped to around 50psi. Dropped it to low idle. Inside gauge dropped to zero. Mech gauge showed 24 psi.... no problem here with engine...bad gauge or sender.

One think I have never liked, being an engineer, is idiot gauges that have no numbers. The voltmeter and the water temp are also this way - no darn numbers.

Priced parts from deere. Decided that I am not going to repair the old gauges or senders. Going to mount a 3 gauge cluster with real oil pressure, real temp and actual voltage.

Looking for ideas on where to mount the gauges. Thinking about one of those nice covered gauge pods mounted over the cowl but open to other ideas.

Give me some ideas, guys...

I don't know if space will allow it, but how about removing those 3 original gauges & drilling the dash out to fit the new gauges?
