alternator has 110049c / 133693 as it's identification. Is it 12 volt?

Tractor has two 12 volt batteries but I haven't yet checked if they are series or parallel.

Ron, with your knowledge you can tell in a few seconds if the two batteries are connected in SERIES FOR 24 VOLTS ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR PARALLEL FOR 12 VOLTS........Then you can answer your own question ......

As you and most already know, its fairly common to convert an original JD 4020 Diesel 24 volt system over to 12 volt and use a 12 volt Alternator. I'm NOT saying if I like it or not !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm NOT commenting on anything else......

This a Gas or Diesel ???? Gas were 12 volt of course....

I didn't have any luck Googling those numbers but I bet someone can find info an that particular alternator...

NOTE I ONLY addressed YOUR question, I'm NOT speaking to anyone else, and I did NOT comment on the advantages or disadvantages of 12 or 24 volt or advantages or disadvantages of converting !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nor do I wish to open any can of worms or feuds, I'm here to help NOT argue.....

BOTTOM LINE sorry I don't know if that alternator is 12 volt or not but I'm sure someone can tell us.

You told us you were an "electrical engineer" and understand the Deere-Delco system but you can't tell the voltage of your tractor!

To the O.P.:

A quick Google search yeidled no results with those numbers so I guess a guy will have to dig deeper. A picture would help bigtime and I imagine some of the automotive electric gurus could ID it immediately.....

To the others:

Even with the little time I've spent on these forums over the years, reading his posts, I'm quite certain Ron doesn't have any trouble discerning the difference between a series & parallel connection. It's fairly safe to assume that he was just inquiring about the alternator as he hadn't got around(read - had time) to assessing the system in full.

Of course I could be wrong & won't be afraid to admit it if I am.......

Indeed, Rons a good man, an engineer, and sharp on electrical, I agree he was looking for ALTERNATOR info which I had no luck finding either.....

John,

Thanks for continuing your helpful responses. Yes I can answer my own question, but in "a moment of weakness" I posted before I thought. That's a bad policy to follow.

Regards, Ron

Glen,

Thanks a lot. You have stated it just as it happened. It was late in the day and I was stopping before I had the answer I wanted.

Hey Ron, fellow EE, BTDT and I have the T Shirt lol I've in a hurry asked questions before and hit the submit button and suddenly realized I ALREADY KNEW THE ANSWER LOL

Let he who has never made a mistake cast the first stone IT SURE WONT BE ME !!!!!!!!!!!!
