How much of a ring gap in an la with 3 1/2 pistons would be good to have Thanks guys.

IIRC .004" per 1" of bore dia is minimum required. so at least .014"

That is a cool running engine, so I would agree on the .014

Ok thanks guys right now there at .025 and the other one is at .027 thousandths.

I do not know what a good maximun would be ? But many sets I buy are well over the minimun spec. it seems. If yours are NEW rings then you are likely fine. I have never reused old rings.

give us all the info... is that a new sleeve or used sleeve your checking gap on??? definitly will have more gap on a used sleeve if your not checking the gap at the bottom end of sleeve where there is no wear.

I got a set of stock rings for this and about 3/4 down the bore it was .025 and on the other .027. Was told that .o14 to .020 was the max on them I was thinking that it needs rebored tell I check the side of the piston in the bore. at top it was hard to get .006 an at the bottom .002 so thinking the pistons are good just the rings are at to much. And was going to get some rings that were at 10 or 20 over and then grind them to fit. What do u guys think. Thanks for any in fo on this.
