No. 5 mower with 3 point

I know that that the #5 mower was one of the more popular mowers in the 40's and 50's and JD made attachments so you could hook the mower to the drawbars of a Farmall, International, Case, and AC. Years ago, I bought an old #5 at an auction that was set op to attach to a Farmall drawbar. My question is, did JD ever make an attachment so you could convert your #5 mower to a three point hitch?

It appears from viewing # 5 parts catalog that JD offered the option of a 3 pt hitch.

Chas036, I made these adapters for my 38 mower several years ago(similar to a #5 and #8). I had to lengthen the pto shaft a bit, but for a 3 point or a quick hitch, they work pretty good.

I bought a No. 8 at an auction 2 years ago and it was set up the same way. Had a homemade round bar clamped in the brackets and an extended PTO shaft. A guy at the auction thought the previous owner had used it on a 520 or 620 and raised/lowered the 3 pt. lift arms to fine tune it, and then since they had dual hydraulics, used the other lever to operate the hyd. cylinder on the mower. I took the round bar out and use it with the standard mower brackets now.

(quoted from post at 10:09:37 05/14/18) Looks like thay only made the connections for the lift arms and not something for the center link

There's no need for a center link.

Since it's intended to be a "semi-mounted" mower you simply set the height of the 3-point to where the front of the mower needs to be (as it would be if attached to a fixed drawbar) and leave it there, and the hydraulic lift cylinder (or even a mechanical lift lever, if so equipped) handles the lifting of the cutterbar and inner shoe.

Tie the three point lever down to the height you need. Neighbor made an adapter for his 3020 to put the mower on, went through a few pto shafts when accidently grabbing the wrong lever to raise the mower.

I made a hitch for my number 8 John Deere that fits on a 3 point if you use it on a John Deere tractor the hitch stays where you put it so there?s nothing to worry about
