What causes two-cylinder power steering to catch?

I'm not Rich, but I've had my share of them apart. The pins holding the vanes can break, the top gear and worm gear can bind if the clearance isn't set right, and there are a few more things that I'm sure I've forgotten. Best thing is to buy the SM2050 manual. This manual pertains only to power steering and is invaluable in repairing JD P/S.

The problems start with worn parts like the pins in the control sleeve, the end play at the worm bearings, or just out of
adjustment.
As was stated above you really need the service manual.
